About PIOGA
Who we are, what we stand for, and how the association works for Pennsylvania’s independent producers.
Our mission
PIOGA advocates for the responsible growth of Pennsylvania’s oil and natural gas industry by promoting an environment favorable to the success of the exploration, production and storage, the transportation, and the downstream end users of these energy resources.
We aim to be the trusted voice for the industry in Pennsylvania: swift, decisive, member-based advocacy, open and interactive committees, and educational outreach across the Commonwealth.
What we do
Advocate
One voice before the General Assembly, DEP, the PUC, and federal regulators — swift, decisive, and member-driven.
Educate
Workshops, safety training, tax seminars, and regulatory briefings that keep members ahead of change.
Connect
Open, interactive committees, conferences, and The PIOGA Press connect the people who run this industry.
The oldest oil and gas trade association in America
PIOGA traces its roots to 1918, when Pennsylvania’s producers organized as the Pennsylvania Oil, Gas and Minerals Association — believed to be the oldest continuously operating oil and gas trade association in the United States.
Thirty years after the independents split off to form their own association, the two organizations reunified in April 2010 as today’s PIOGA — nearly 400 member companies spanning producers, drilling contractors, service and supply companies, pipelines, and royalty owners.
Today, the association brings that history forward through advocacy, member service, and industry collaboration across Pennsylvania.
In members’ words
There is ONE organization that represents them all — and that is the best value proposition for every company working 24/7 to bring our undervalued hydrocarbons to market.
PIOGA creates an atmosphere where collaboration amongst competing companies is encouraged, all with the sole purpose of improving our industry.
PIOGA goes to battle along with us, working to inform the public, protect and support its members and the industry.
